Dr. Noguez (UNAM, México) has made pioneering contributions to the fields of plasmonics, computational nanoscience, optical spectroscopy, and theoretical nanoscience. Her work provided the foundations of plasmonic and chiral nanostructures for sensing and energy applications, resulting in a global impact. Her research has extensively explored the optical properties of metal nanoparticles, chiral nanostructures, and surfaces, focusing on how their shape and physical environment influence the electronic and optical response. Notable works include studies on the plasmonic optical properties of metal nanoparticles with arbitrary shapes and the understanding of the chiral properties of atomically thin films. Recently, she has contributed to understand the electronic and excitonic properties of moiré 2D van der Waals materials.
